Life and Career[]

George had her first contact with fiber as a child, when she began making quilts with her grandmother. Her fascination with the color, texture and surfaces of various fiber elements has remained constant.

After spending many years as a clothing designer in the fashion industry, George chose a career in the fiber arts. Fortunate to have an extensive travel background, George has visited and studied with contemporary artists throughout the United States. She mastered her technique in fiber, while receiving her M.F.A. at California State University Long Beach.

After raising her 3 children with help of her husband Paul, George is fulfilling her life-long dream of being able to devote most of her time to working in the fiber arts. George creates one-of-a-kind, contemporary works for gallery, business and home settings. She exhibits her works in galleries in California and art shows throughout the United States.

Paulette George suffered a stroke, triggered by two blood clots. At one point she was pronounced dead, but made it through. After being in the hospital for four months and bedridden for nearly two years, the stroke left Paulette George partially paralyzed on her left side.

George and her husband, Paul, have three children, Portala (b. 1984), Teiosha (b. 1985), and Paul (b. 1990). Portala played volleyball at CSU-San Bernardino, while Teiosha played basketball at Pepperdine; and Paul is a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. She has one granddaughter and 2 grandsons through her daughter Portala and two granddaughters (Olivia and Natasha George) through Paul, with his girlfriend Daniela.
