Mikala McGhee (born January 17, 1994) is an American former college basketball player who played for Missouri State Lady Bears and Florida Gulf Coast Eagles

Early Life[]

McGhee is the daughter of Douglas and Kristine McGhee and has two sisters, Alexia and Taylor McGhee.

High School[]

McGhee was a four-year varsity basketball letter winner at Pattonville High School in St. Louis, Missouri. McGhee was a four-time first-team all-conference, four-time all-district, and four-time academic all-conference. In her freshmen year, she led the conference in scoring at 15 points per game to go along with eight rebounds, three steals and 2.6 assists. During her junior year, McGhee averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and 3.7 assists and earned second-team all-state honors and named the North County Athlete of the Year. As a senior, McGhee averaged 20.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 5.1 steals with 54 made 3-pointers as a senior, hauling in first-team all-state honors.

For McGhee's performance her senior year she received state honors including the Suburban North Conference Player of the Year, Suburban North Athlete of the Year, St. Louis Cardinals Athlete of the Year, Larry Hughes Athlete of the Year, and Riverfront Times Best High School Athlete of 2012. In addition to basketball, she also participated in soccer and softball, lettering in both sports, drawing interest from several Division I schools.

College Career[]

For her first two years of college she played basketball at Missouri State University. McGhee appeared in 20 games and netted a career-high 10 points on 4-8 shooting at Missouri, later in the year, she scored a team-high eight points against Creighton and nearly half of McGhee's rebounds her freshman year came on the offensive end. As a sophomore at Missouri State, she played in all 31 games and made five starts, finished the year averaging 4.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, with her 126 rebounds being the fourth-most on the team.

McGhee then transferred to the George Mason University, but did not play for the Patriots in 2015-16, and will be have two years of eligibility with the Eagles beginning in 2016-17 as a redshirt senior. She then played college basketball at Florida Gulf Coast University. In her senior season at Florida Gulf Coast sppeared in 35 games with three starts, averaged 11.8 minutes per contest, ranked third on the team with 3.6 rebounds per game in conference play, went 9-for-21 from beyond the arc for a team-leading .429 three-point shooting percentage in conference play and added 15 steals on the season.

Personal Life []

McGhee was the subject of an episode of the MTV show 'Made' during her sophomore year of high school. She would like to become a model after graduation and major is criminal justice. Her favorite movie is Love and Coach Carter, and favorite athlete is Abby Wambach. From 2013-2015, she dated Washington Wizards basketball player Bradley Beal, her high school sweetheart.
