Lauren Ruth Holiday (born September 27, 1993) is an American former college basketball player who played for the UCLA Bruins women's basketball team of Pac-12 Conference.
Early Life[]
Holiday is the only daughter of Shawn and Toya Holiday, and has three brothers: Justin, Jrue, and Aaron. Her parents were both basketball players at Arizona State University. All three of her brothers are NBA players: Jrue is the starting point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans, while Justin and Aaron are members of the Indiana Pacers. Additionally, she is a sister-in-law of USA women's soccer international Lauren Holiday.
High School[]
Like her older brothers, Holiday played basketball at Campbell Hall School in Studio City, California where she was coached by her mother Toya Holiday. She led the Vikings to the 2012 CIF Division 4A championship for first time in school history and was named 2012 Player of the Year in Division 4A. Holiday earned first-team All-Alpha League and first-team All-CIF Division 4A honors all four years and nominated for McDonald's All-American Game in 2012. In addition to basketball, she also participated in volleyball, softball, and track and field. She lettered three years in sprints, relays and shot, two years in volleyball and one year in softball under coach Kelly Zakosek, earned first team All-Alpha League honors for track and field in 2009, 2011 and 2012 and first team All-CIF in 2012, earned first team All-Alpha League honors in volleyball in 2010 and second team All-Alpha League in 2012 and played club basketball for West Coast Premier. Before her final season began at Campbell Hall School, Holiday committed to the UCLA.
College Career []
In her freshmen year, Holiday shot .333 from the field. She was starter for three games of the season, averaged 14 minutes per game, she missed the season-opener against San Diego State (Nov. 10) with a head injury. She sustained a head injury in the win over Princeton (Nov. 25) and played 11 minutes, but never returned after the injury and was granted a medical hardship by the NCAA. Holiday played in 9 games and earned five starts for the Bruins. She averaged 3.9 points per game in 22.8 minutes per contest while shooting 38.2 percent from the field, and career-high 58.3 percent from the charity stripe. She recorded four double-figure games.
